QuackQuackQuack.com NewsNovember 08, 1999When Will Duck Soup Reopen? Maybe in DecemberI have been pensive lately, mostly about how to tell you all that is going on with Duck Soup's reopening. We are indeed on track and making tremendous progress and now we wish we had more time to get all the details attended to. It seems to be that way with life and term papers: One always tends to think that there is ample time, right up until the real work and activity has to be finalized. Guess where we are right now?! We are still planning our "soft" opening in December. What is "soft," you ask? We indeed are targeting the Duck Doors to be open mid-December. All pieces are lining up that way. However, our initial inventory will be limited, as we've had to pass on critical ordering deadlines for some season-sensitive merchandise. Believe it or not, we normally begin ordering our December Holiday merchandise as early as July. We obviously couldn't do that this year not knowing how construction would pan out. Our initial offerings will be our more "general" merchandise and we will ramp up from there.
So, "soft" refers to the doors being open the lights being on and while there will still be shelf space to fill, we WILL be home! We do get a lot of questions daily as to when exactly we will be open. With a sincere smile I say, "We will open when we open". Don't you love my Zen bent? Really, we have always striven to do things right. That is the Duck Way. Certain things just can't be rushed, and we refuse to compromise our Duck Loyalty and commitment to you, our customers. We are currently warehousing fixtures and inventory in multiple locations around town working to get set up in advance. As soon as we have our Certificate of Occupancy from the town, we will be ready to put the final touches on our displays, and unlock the doors. We are very excited about this.
It is important to all of us that when you walk back into Duck Soup, you will feel that you are BACK at Duck Soup. We have learned too much from all of you not to do it any other way. We sincerely thank you for all of your input, thoughts, concerns and support that has gotten us back to where we are. We are in this for the long haul, and compromising is completely out of the question. A few bits and pieces: New on the NewsFront this week is that Mill Village is planning to have its Grand Reopening in January. This is great news for everyone! As you can see by the progress of the building construction, we are getting there
A number of our veteran Duck Crew is now back on board assisting Pierre and me with the TI (tenant improvement build-out) and the store's merchandising. We are, as well, commencing interviews with Culinary Junkies who want to join the Duck Crew. Interested? Know anyone who is? Let us know. Drop on by to say hello, or give us a jingle at 443-DUCK. And lastly, a very Ducky "Thank You" for your interest and support of our Online CoffeeHouse. The response has been tremendous. We are definitely planning to open new online "rooms" in the near future but have none planned prior to the first of the year. We feel that it is most important to channel our current energies into getting the physical store back online. That is our bread and butter, and while we are committed to adapting and staying hip, we also refuse to ignore our roots. Store first. Online to follow. I look forward to seeing you in the new Duck Soup very soon. Be well,
