Coffeehouse Now Open!

Wowie! Zowie! (Sorry…a bit too much coffee this morning…) Can you believe this? Take a look at these photos, and tell me you can't see the new Duck Soup taking shape. And tell me it doesn't put a smile on your face as well!

From Rte. 20 you can see the roof and wall sheathing
being hung. Our banner shows right where
Duck Soup will be!

Quite a bit of progress has taken place over the past few weeks, and we are feeling really good about our planned early December opening. Yes, the time is approaching quickly, and Pierre and I are hard at work finishing floor plans, fixture designs…and getting initial inventories ordered. It really is invigorating to be creating the store from scratch…but I will admit that it makes us a bit nutty at the same time. It has been 27 years since we have had to do this!

Pierre and I have also begun putting together the initial Duck Team for our reopening. Yes, we are staffing up once again. Consider this a casting call for the Ongoing Duck Soup Theatre. If you are interested in joining the Duck Soup Team (or know someone who is) please contact us immediately.

And of course, what we are most excited about this week is our launch of our Online CoffeeHouse. When we commenced selling coffee after we swept up the ashes from the fire, it became clear that we needed to find a more efficient way to get coffee to you. We put our heads and creative insanities together…and developed the Online CoffeeHouse (no longer available - 8/02).

Simply, it is designed to make it quick and easy for you to continue to enjoy the finest of the Duck Soup coffees. We love it, and hope you do too. All of your favorite coffees are here, along with descriptions and usage ideas.

It works like this: Once you have selected your coffee (and grind, mind you), you can either email the order to us (by clicking the Confirm Order button)…or fax it in. Hell, you can even call us if you want. Whatever works for you. We will then call you to arrange payment method preferred (credit card, cash, check) and whether you would like the order shipped to you (UPS) or if you would like to pick it up. And that's it. Eventually, the online shopping experience will take on more "automated" mechanics…but for right now, we want to know how it is working for you. And the way for us to do this is to talk to every customer about each order. You know, it's the Duck Soup Customer Service Thing.

This is the first shopping "room" of our growing Duck Soup Online store. And we have quite a bit more planned to roll out over the next few months. We hope you enjoy the experience, and as always, we welcome your feedback.

Be well,
Richard
